Bigg Boss Bangla is set to debut on Star Jalsha, with former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly announced as the host. The show will be produced by EndemolShine India, part of Banijay Asia.
The announcement was made at Eden Gardens during a cricket match hosted by Ganguly, attended by advertisers and media industry professionals. The event concluded with a light and sound presentation revealing the official logo of the upcoming show.
According to Sumanta Bose, representing the East and West cluster of JioStar, the launch marks a major step in expanding one of India’s most successful reality franchises into the Bengali entertainment market. He noted that the format has been adapted to reflect Bengal’s cultural sensibilities while retaining the scale, drama, and intensity that define the Bigg Boss brand.
Sourav Ganguly shared that the format’s focus on strong personalities, bold opinions, and engaging conversations aligns well with Bengal’s cultural identity. He expressed excitement about connecting with audiences across the region and being part of a show that celebrates individuality while sparking dialogue.
Deepak Dhar, founder and group CEO of Banijay Asia and EndemolShine India, highlighted that the franchise has become one of the country’s most influential entertainment formats. With the launch of Bigg Boss Bangla, the franchise will now expand to seven Indian languages, further strengthening its national reach.
The new regional edition aims to deliver large-scale non-fiction entertainment while building a strong connection with Bengali audiences.
