Samsung is reportedly in advanced discussions to integrate Perplexity AI into its upcoming Galaxy S26 series, potentially making the AI search assistant the default smart assistant on its flagship smartphones, expected to launch in early 2026. The move, first reported by Bloomberg, signals a strategic shift by Samsung towards a more diversified AI ecosystem, reducing its dependency on Google’s services.
The collaboration could include pre-installing Perplexity’s app, embedding its AI-powered search tools directly into the Samsung Internet browser, and even integrating the technology within Bixby, Samsung’s existing virtual assistant. In addition to product integration, Samsung is also reportedly set to be a key investor in Perplexity AI’s upcoming $500 million fundraising round, which targets a $14 billion valuation.
This initiative follows a similar partnership between Perplexity and Motorola, where users were offered access to Perplexity Pro, marking the growing influence of AI-first search tools in the smartphone market. Samsung’s move mirrors Apple’s reported multi-partner AI strategy, reflecting an industry-wide shift in how mobile companies approach next-gen AI capabilities.
The implications of the partnership could be far-reaching, potentially redefining how users search, interact, and engagewith their devices-challenging Google’s long-standing dominance in mobile search.
Meanwhile, Perplexity AI CEO Arvind Srinivas recently spoke at the News18 Rising Bharat Summit 2025, advising young engineers to embrace AI tools in coding and development workflows. “If you’re not using AI while writing code, you’re stagnating,” Srinivas said, stressing that adaptation is key in the AI-driven economy.
While Perplexity has seen an influx of job applications in India, Srinivas clarified that hiring is currently on hold, with expansion plans under review.
