She gained national attention for her extensive coverage of the farmers’ protest, spending 100 consecutive days at the Singhu border, reporting up to twelve hours daily. What began as a routine assignment became a mission to uncover and humanize the stories behind the headlines – earning the trust of protestors and presenting their voices with integrity and nuance.
Malhotra also returned to Joshimath, Uttarakhand, well after the media cycle had moved on from the land subsidence crisis. Her follow-up reports highlighted ongoing struggles faced by displaced families, reflecting her belief in journalism as an act of care, not just coverage.
