Dentsu has expanded its global innovation footprint with the launch of Dentsu Lab India in Mumbai on July 15, 2025, adding to its existing labs in Tokyo, London, and Warsaw.
Founded in 2014 by Dentsu’s global chief creative officer Yasuharu Sasaki, Dentsu Lab focuses on AI, immersive technologies, and human-centered design to solve business challenges and create social impact. The India launch strengthens Dentsu’s ‘Innovate to Impact’ vision, offering a new platform for brands to craft culturally rooted, tech-powered solutions.
Gurbaksh Singh, CCO and Chief Innovation Officer – South Asia, leads the India Lab, steering collaboration between clients, startups, and partners. To mark the launch, Dentsu Lab showcased innovations like Tokonoma, an AI-music experience from Japan, and India-based Garuda Rakshak, a drone-powered public safety tool. Also featured were Motorola Deep Connect and the award-winning Unfiltered History Tour.
Sasaki said, “India’s unique blend of emotional insight, culture, and tech makes it a vital part of our innovation network. True innovation begins with empathy.”
Dentsu Lab India will operate from Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Gurgaon, offering creative R&D services across AR/VR, IoT, data visualisation, mobile, and more.
Amit Wadhwa and Narayan Devanathan of Dentsu South Asia added, “India brings imagination and invention to the table. With Dentsu Lab, we aim to create inclusive, impactful solutions.”
Singh concluded, “We’re not theorizing innovation-we’re building it. Every prototype is designed to solve real-world problems with relevance and urgency.”
