OpenAI Launches ‘Grove’ to Cultivate the Next Wave of AI Founders

New program offers mentorship, talent network, and early access to cutting-edge tools for pre-idea entrepreneurs

OpenAI has unveiled ‘Grove’, a first-of-its-kind initiative aimed at nurturing early-stage AI entrepreneurs – even those who don’t yet have a fully-formed business idea. Positioned as a launchpad rather than a traditional accelerator, Grove is designed to help curious, ambitious individuals explore and build in the fast-evolving AI space.

According to OpenAI’s September 12 blog post, Grove participants will gain access to a global talent network, opportunities to co-build with OpenAI researchers, and early exposure to the company’s latest tools and models. The five-week program will also include tailored mentorship, in-person workshops, and weekly office hours with OpenAI’s technical leaders.

The inaugural cohort will host around 15 participants at OpenAI’s San Francisco headquarters, laying the groundwork for a long-term community of AI builders. Beyond the structured curriculum, participants will be encouraged to explore different pathways – from raising capital to joining roles across the broader AI ecosystem.

OpenAI emphasizes that Grove is open to individuals from all disciplines and backgrounds, prioritizing curiosity and drive over prior entrepreneurial experience. Applications for the first cohort close on September 24, 2025.

With Grove, OpenAI signals its intent to play a bigger role in shaping the next generation of AI innovation, positioning itself not just as a model developer but as a catalyst for AI-driven entrepreneurship.
