MakeMyTrip turns iconic Bollywood villains into travel problem-solvers in new campaign

MakeMyTrip, India’s leading online travel company, has launched a quirky new digital campaign, “Villian Mat Bano,” that puts a dramatic spin on common hurdles faced by Indian travellers heading abroad.

From early hotel check-ins and last-minute international flight date changes to the stress of visa rejections and finding hotels suited to Indian preferences, the campaign highlights how MakeMyTrip’s solutions are designed to ease these pain points.

Bringing the idea to life, the platform has cast Bollywood legends Gulshan Grover, Dalip Tahil, and Mukesh Rishi, actors synonymous with villainous screen roles. In the campaign’s five short films, the actors embody exaggerated travel problems, before MakeMyTrip steps in with fixes that save the day.

Speaking on the launch, Raj Rishi Singh, Chief Marketing Officer & Chief Business Officer – Corporate, Flights, GCC, MakeMyTrip, said: “International travel can feel daunting when unexpected issues arise. With this campaign, we wanted to assure travellers that MakeMyTrip has already anticipated these challenges and built practical solutions. By using iconic villains, we’ve added a touch of drama and familiarity to make the message instantly engaging and relatable.”

The campaign has been conceptualized and executed by Restless at MagicCircle and is now live across digital platforms.
