The new video selfie feature aims to eliminate fake profiles and enhance trust among users across the country.
Tinder has announced the rollout of Face Check in India – a video selfie-based verification tool designed to ensure that every match is with a real person. The feature marks a major step in Tinder’s ongoing commitment to build a safer, more authentic dating experience.
Face Check works by asking users to record a short video selfie, which is matched against their profile photos to confirm identity. Verified users are awarded a Photo Verified badge, helping others identify genuine profiles and make more confident connections.
“Face Check™ is arriving in India at a time when online authenticity has never been more important,” said Yoel Roth, Senior Vice President of Trust & Safety, Match Group. “Safety features like Face Check™ strengthen our defences against fake profiles, bots, and fraud, allowing users to focus on forming real, meaningful connections.”
The launch comes amid rising expectations for safety-first dating experiences among Indian users. According to Tinder’s Modern Dating Report, over one in three users consider profile verification among the most appealing features when evaluating potential matches. Additionally, 50% prefer meeting in public spaces, 42% share date plans with friends or family, and 37% choose video calls before meeting in person.
Over the past few years, Tinder has introduced more than 20 safety features in India, including Warnings, “Are You Sure?”, “Does This Bother You?”, enhanced reporting tools, and ID Verification – setting new benchmarks for user protection in the dating app industry.
With Face Check now rolling out to new users across India, Tinder continues to reinforce its core promise – a dating space built on trust, transparency, and authentic connections.
