MakeMyTrip, one of India’s leading online travel companies, has introduced a groundbreaking AI-powered Semantic Search feature designed to revolutionize how travellers discover hotels and homestays. The new technology enables users to describe their stay preferences in natural language, eliminating the need to scroll through endless filters and drop-down menus.
Built on the same AI framework as MakeMyTrip’s travel assistant Myra, the system interprets open-ended, conversational queries and delivers precise, intent-based results. Travellers can now type or say requests like “pet-friendly hotels in Manali with a swimming pool” or “heritage stays near Jaipur forts with parking” – and the platform instantly provides curated results complete with visuals, user-generated content, and AI-personalized rankings.
The feature also introduces AI Smart Suggestions, offering contextual recommendations such as “beachfront hotels in Goa” or “Ooty stays with mountain views”, each tagged with insights like “great for families” or “private pools available.” This innovation streamlines decision-making, allowing travellers to explore, compare, and book accommodations faster than ever.
Ankit Khanna, Chief Product Officer at MakeMyTrip, said, “Our goal is to make travel planning as intuitive as conversation. With AI Search, we’ve built a system that understands how people naturally express themselves, making the process of finding the right stay effortless.”
The launch follows the Beta release of Myra, MakeMyTrip’s GenAI-enabled Trip Planning Assistant, available in English and Hindi. Supporting users from destination discovery to post-travel assistance, Myra exemplifies MakeMyTrip’s commitment to leveraging AI to simplify, personalize, and enrich the travel experience.
