Tata Communications Moves Toward AI-First Future with Majority Stake in Commotion Inc.

Tata Communications has taken a significant leap in its AI transformation journey by acquiring a 51% stake in Commotion Inc., an AI-native Enterprise SaaS platform operating across the U.S. and India. The deal marks a strategic advancement in strengthening the company’s AI-driven global Digital Fabric ecosystem.

The acquisition will enhance Tata Communications’ Customer Interaction Suite, including Tata Communications Kaleyra, through deep integration of Commotion’s orchestration engine. This capability will now power platforms such as Kaleyra TX Hub, CCaaS, and omnichannel communication channels-shifting enterprise CX from traditional reactive models to predictive, generative AI-based interactions.

Commotion’s platform is built on three core pillars:
• Omnichannel CX automation for hyper-personalised, real-time engagement
• Voice AI built on ultra-low-latency speech-to-speech technology
• Autonomous digital agents capable of continuous internal and customer-facing operations

Together, these strengths enable enterprises to streamline complex workflows and deliver personalized engagement at scale.

With this acquisition, Tata Communications aims to accelerate its evolution into an AI-first organization-helping enterprises move beyond isolated AI experiments to scalable, mission-critical deployments.

A.S. Lakshminarayanan, Managing Director & CEO of Tata Communications, said the deal sets the foundation for next-generation customer experience transformation driven by intelligence and automation. Murali Swaminathan, CEO of Commotion Inc., added that the collaboration blends innovation speed with Tata Communications’ global trust and reach.

The acquisition will be completed as a cash-only transaction under a Stock Purchase Agreement.
