NDTV to Air ‘BMC Power Play’ Ahead of Mumbai Civic Elections to Explore Governance and Urban Priorities

As Mumbai prepares for the 227-member Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections on January 15, 2026, NDTV will broadcast a special programme, BMC Power Play, on January 11. The show aims to unpack the elections’ impact on the city’s governance, infrastructure, political leadership, and day-to-day civic decision-making.

Rahul Kanwal, CEO and Editor-in-Chief, NDTV, highlighted the importance of the elections, noting that the mandate will shape Mumbai’s growth, governance, and institutional framework. “BMC Power Play examines the elections with rigor and perspective, bringing in voices that influence public life to help viewers understand what’s at stake for the city and its citizens,” he said.

Jitendra Dixit, Executive Editor, NDTV Marathi, added that the programme will focus on how Mumbai, as a global metropolis, navigates challenges of growth, infrastructure, equity, and accountability. “It’s about more than just who governs-it’s about the city’s trajectory,” he said.

The programme will feature political leaders from across parties, including Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, Union Minister Piyush Goyal, and other prominent figures such as Sanjay Raut, Praful Patel, Amit Thackeray, Milind Deora, and Nawab Malik. It will also incorporate citizen perspectives, civic stakeholders, and experts to highlight governance priorities, accountability, and Mumbai’s future direction.

Through BMC Power Play, NDTV seeks to provide viewers with an in-depth, multi-dimensional understanding of the civic elections, ensuring informed public discourse on the city’s leadership and development challenges.
