HMVL Q3 Fy26: Revenue Growth Masks Sharp Profit Decline Amid Exceptional Losses

Hindustan Media Ventures Limited (HMVL) reported steady revenue growth in the third quarter of FY26, even as profitability saw a sharp contraction due to exceptional losses incurred during the period.

For the quarter ended December 31, 2025, revenue from operations stood at Rs 212.24 crore, marking a 7.8% rise quarter-on-quarter from Rs 196.87 crore in Q2 FY26 and a 7.5% increase year-on-year compared to Rs 197.47 crore in Q3 FY25. Total income for the quarter came in at Rs 236.39 crore, up from Rs 224.92 crore in the previous quarter and Rs 221.39 crore in the corresponding period last year.

EBITDA improved sequentially by 27.4% to Rs 23.39 crore from Rs 18.35 crore in Q2 FY26, although it declined 9.1% year-on-year from Rs 25.73 crore. Profitability was significantly impacted by exceptional losses amounting to Rs 16.09 crore. Consequently, profit before tax dropped sharply to Rs 1.34 crore, compared to Rs 11.29 crore in the previous quarter and Rs 19.71 crore a year ago. Profit after tax stood at Rs 0.89 crore, reflecting a decline of 91.2% quarter-on-quarter and 95.1% year-on-year.

On the segment front, the printing and publishing business remained the primary revenue driver, generating Rs 180.66 crore during the quarter. This represented a 3.1% sequential increase and a marginal 0.5% year-on-year growth. The digital segment continued its strong momentum, with revenues rising to Rs 28.96 crore, up 40.3% quarter-on-quarter and 73.2% year-on-year.

For the nine months ended December 31, 2025, HMVL reported revenue from operations of Rs 592.10 crore, an 11.4% increase over the same period last year. Total income rose to Rs 671.02 crore, while EBITDA grew 6.1% year-on-year to Rs 59.46 crore. However, profit before tax declined to Rs 24.40 crore from Rs 35.07 crore, and profit after tax fell to Rs 21.21 crore from Rs 32.38 crore, primarily due to exceptional losses.
