Sun TV Network Ltd reported a 10.7% year-on-year decline in profit for the third quarter of FY26, as continued weakness in advertising revenue weighed on earnings despite moderate growth in overall revenue.
For the quarter ended December 31, 2025, the Chennai-based broadcaster posted a profit of ₹324.33 crore, compared to ₹363.42 crore in the same period last year. Profit also declined sequentially by 8.4% from ₹354.33 crore reported in Q2 FY26.
Advertising revenue fell sharply during the quarter, declining 12% year-on-year to ₹291.94 crore from ₹332.17 crore in Q3 FY25, reflecting persistent softness in the advertising market. The drop in ad income emerged as a key drag on profitability during the October–December period.
Despite the advertising slowdown, Sun TV Network’s revenue from operations rose 4.02% year-on-year to ₹862.16 crore, up from ₹828.81 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Total income for the quarter stood at ₹999.27 crore.
However, rising costs offset the topline growth. Total expenses increased 11.4% year-on-year to ₹558.65 crore, compared to ₹501.05 crore in Q3 FY25. Operating expenses accounted for ₹246.21 crore during the quarter, while cricket franchise fees stood at ₹4.19 crore. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) for the quarter came in at ₹409.79 crore.
Sun TV Network operates a wide portfolio of satellite television channels across Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, with additional broadcasts in Bangla, Marathi and Hindi. The company also runs FM radio stations, produces films, owns multiple cricket franchises including SunRisers Hyderabad in the IPL, and operates the OTT platform Sun NXT.
