Mumbai: In a stirring tribute to the nation’s defenders, JK Paper, in collaboration with Curly Tales, has unveiled ‘Sandese Aate Hai’, a nationwide initiative transforming handwritten letters into heartfelt messages of gratitude for India’s armed forces.
Rooted in the belief that gratitude should travel as far as duty does, the campaign takes viewers deep into some of India’s most challenging and strategically vital terrains. Led by Kamiya Jani, Editor-in-Chief of Curly Tales, the series documents visits to Suratgarh (Rajasthan), Fazilka (Punjab), Uri (Jammu & Kashmir), and the eastern frontier regions of Kibithu and Dichu in Arunachal Pradesh near the Indo-China border. The journey also reaches Kaho, often called India’s first village, highlighting patriotism in the remotest corners.
The series offers rare glimpses into forward posts and sensitive defence zones, including Krishna Ghati in Poonch near the India-Pakistan border and Nangi Tekri, a key position captured during the 1971 war. From artillery drills and anti-drone systems to armoured units and fortified bunkers – and even the extreme conditions of the Siachen Glacier – the campaign showcases the operational realities of service life.
Voices of decorated veterans such as G. D. Bakshi, Shivinder Pratap Singh Kamar and Gaurav Arya add depth to the storytelling.
At its heart lies the revival of handwritten letters – thousands penned by citizens nationwide on JK Paper, reinforcing its identity as the “Paper of the Nation.” Blending patriotism with sustainability, ‘Sandese Aate Hai’ stands as a powerful reminder that sometimes, the simplest gestures carry the greatest meaning.
