The refreshed look balances strength with playfulness, adding vibrant color accents to its classic black-and-white foundation.
From its humble beginnings as a small design studio in Pune in 1989, Elephant Design has grown into one of India’s most respected independent design consultancies. Now, 36 years later, the company has revealed a fresh brand identity that reflects its evolution while staying rooted in its original spirit.
Known for its collaborations with some of India’s largest and most iconic brands – such as Unilever, ITC, Mahindra, and Asian Paints – Elephant has played a central role in shaping the visual language of Indian business.
According to the company’s press release, the new identity represents a blend of stability and strength with playful agility – a visual expression of the values that have long driven Elephant’s approach to design. The rebrand is described not as a response to fleeting trends, but as an authentic articulation of its enduring philosophy: expressive, dynamic, and purpose-driven design thinking.
A notable highlight of the new identity is the inclusion of a Devanagari wordmark, symbolizing the consultancy’s deep cultural connection.
“Local is never an afterthought for us, because our processes and insights are homegrown and they stand at the forefront of our practice,” said Ashwini Deshpande, co-founder and director at Elephant Design.
She added, “As designers who believe in designing for India – and designing from India for the world – we have ensured that our identity reflects this local-global spirit.”
The updated visual identity is being introduced through a completely redesigned website, with other brand assets scheduled for rollout in the coming weeks. The new color palette injects fresh, youthful energy into Elephant’s signature black-and-white, using juicy accent tones to signify its vibrant outlook for the future.
