Aamir Khan Joins NDTV’s Jai Jawan in Akhnoor to Honour India’s Armed Forces

This Independence Day, NDTV’s iconic Jai Jawan returned with a powerful edition, travelling to Akhnoor-an emotionally resonant region along the India-Pakistan border in Jammu. The special episode marked 78 years of India’s freedom and featured Bollywood actor Aamir Khan spending a day in solidarity with the Indian Army.

Known for spotlighting the bravery and spirit of Indian soldiers, Jai Jawan took viewers into the lives of the jawans, capturing their dedication under extreme conditions. Aamir walked in their boots-joining drills, sharing meals, and listening to personal stories from the frontlines.

One of the most heartfelt moments unfolded when Aamir interacted with a soldier’s family over a video call. Learning that the soldier had young daughters, Aamir charmed them by reciting his famous Dangal line: “Mhari chhoriyan, chhoron se kam hain ke?” The moment brought smiles all around, merging duty and emotion in one touching exchange. Aamir also expressed his wish to one day portray a soldier’s life on screen with honesty and depth.

The episode showcased the Army’s multi-faith prayer hall, where Aarti, Azaan, and Gurbani rang out in harmony-reflecting the unity within India’s forces. Indigenous defence innovations were also in focus, with Indian-made equipment proudly displayed.

The day concluded on a celebratory note, with music and bhangra lighting up the border. Aamir joined in, dancing to Papa Kehte Hain, bringing nostalgia and joy to the soldiers who’ve long admired his films.

Once again, Jai Jawan served as a heartfelt tribute-bridging civilians and soldiers through shared stories and sincere gratitude.
