AIAI launches as India’s first AI-focused industry association; leading corporates to join Governing Board

India has taken a major step toward shaping the future of responsible Artificial Intelligence with the launch of the Artificial Intelligence Association of India (AIAI) – the country’s first dedicated industry body committed to advancing ethical, innovative, and culturally aligned AI adoption. The organisation will soon announce its Governing Board, which will include prominent corporates and industry leaders.

AIAI is designed to operate at the crossroads of technology, policy, creativity, and culture, bringing together stakeholders from advertising, design, film, gaming, publishing, music, emerging technologies, and other sectors influenced by creative and applied AI.

“AI is no longer a distant frontier – it is today’s reality. India cannot remain a passive adopter in this movement,” said Dr. Sandeep Goyal, National Convenor of AIAI. “AIAI is our way of building strong ethical and institutional frameworks that empower India’s creative industries to thrive with AI on their own terms.”

Building an AI-ready Creative and Innovation Ecosystem

AIAI will be led by a multidisciplinary board of technologists, creators, educators, policy specialists, and legal experts. The body will operate as a policy think tank, innovation hub, and industry forum-supporting AI-driven growth while protecting cultural values and creative rights.

Key objectives of AIAI include:

  • Policy & Advocacy: Representing creative and tech-driven industries in regulatory discussions with MeitY, DPIIT, and NITI Aayog.
  • Ethical Standards: Creating certification frameworks for responsible AI use in film, advertising, design, and music.
  • Skilling & Inclusion: Training and upskilling more than 10,000 creative professionals in AI tools and workflows by 2026.
  • R&D and Innovation: Supporting the development of India-first AI tools for content creation, translation, recommendations, and storytelling.
  • Creative IP Protection: Addressing deepfakes, attribution, and evolving copyright regulation for AI-generated content.

Bridging the Gap Between Innovation and Regulation

With AI adoption accelerating across India and creative sectors undergoing fundamental transformation, AIAI intends to provide structure, accountability, and transparency. The association will serve as a unified platform for creators, enterprises, technologists, and policymakers.

Its roadmap includes real-time policy advisory support, ethical AI sandboxes, and a national AI incident registry-ensuring agile, proactive governance that keeps pace with rapid technological change.

“Creative AI isn’t just about technology-it’s about identity,” Dr. Goyal added. “It is about safeguarding culture, language, livelihoods, and imagination. India must lead this transformation, not follow it-and AIAI will help ensure we do.”

Dr. Sandeep Goyal, Chairman of Rediffusion and founder of Aesthetic Intelligence Lab, brings over three decades of leadership at the intersection of creativity, technology, and data, and is widely regarded as a pioneer in India’s GenAI ecosystem.

AIAI positions itself as the authoritative national voice for India’s emerging AI economy, dedicated to promoting ethical, inclusive, and forward-looking AI adoption across the country.
