Feature Currently Available to Select U.S. Users, Broader Rollout Planned
Amazon has begun testing a new AI-powered feature that delivers short-form audio summaries on select product detail pages. This move is part of the company’s continued investment in artificial intelligence to enhance the shopping experience.
The new functionality provides concise, AI-generated product overviews by analyzing data such as product descriptions, customer reviews, and other publicly available content. Shoppers can access these summaries through a “Hear the Highlights” button in the Amazon app, allowing them to listen to key product details on the go.
Currently, the feature is available to a limited number of users in the U.S., but Amazon plans to expand it to more customers and product categories in the coming months.
This development reflects Amazon’s broader AI strategy. The company recently upgraded Alexa+ with generative AI, launched the Rufus shopping assistant, and introduced AI-powered shopping guides that help users with tailored product suggestions and insights.
Amazon’s latest innovation comes amid growing competition among tech giants like Google and Meta, who are also rolling out AI-driven features at scale. The rise in consumer interest in tools like OpenAI’s ChatGPT– which recently introduced enhanced shopping capabilities- continues to drive AI adoption across the e-commerce industry.
With these advancements, Amazon is aiming to deliver a smarter, more intuitive shopping experience, blending voice technology and artificial intelligence to meet evolving customer expectations.
