Feature allows users to lock sexual wellness, nicotine products behind a PIN for safer family use
Quick commerce platform Blinkit has rolled out a new parental control feature, becoming the first app in its category in India to introduce such functionality. The update enables users to hide age-sensitive products, such as those related to sexual wellness and nicotine, behind a secure 6-digit PIN.
Announcing the feature on X (formerly Twitter), Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa shared that the move is designed to offer families a safer browsing experience on the app.

“You can now go into your profile and hide sensitive items behind a PIN and also set up a recovery phone number. This will allow younger ones in the family to browse the app without seeing any age-inappropriate products,” he posted.
The sensitive items category includes products such as sexual wellness, nicotine-based products, and similar items deemed inappropriate for minors.
Along with hiding these products from search results, the new setting also ensures that related order history is kept private. Furthermore, the app sends notifications if anyone attempts to alter these settings-adding an additional layer of protection for households where devices may be shared.
With this launch, Blinkit becomes the first quick commerce platform in India to implement parental controls-a step not yet taken by competitors such as Swiggy Instamart, Zepto, and Flipkart Minutes.
