Deepinder Goyal Explains Mystery Device Seen on His Temple

Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal has addressed the speculation surrounding a small device spotted on his right temple, days after he publicly shared his “Gravity Aging Hypothesis.” The timing of the photo led many to wonder whether the gadget was connected to his claims that gravity reduces blood flow to the brain, accelerating aging.

In his earlier post, Goyal, 42, argued that brain blood flow is a strong biomarker of aging and proposed inversion poses-such as using inversion tables-to counteract gravity’s impact. According to him, six weeks of daily inversions of over 10 minutes led to a 7% rise in baseline brain flow among participants, potentially reversing a decade of age-related decline.

The conversation took a sharper turn when a LinkedIn user circulated Goyal’s photo wearing the compact device, speculating that it was a new wearable designed to measure brain blood flow, even suggesting the name “Temple.”

Goyal has now confirmed that the speculation was partly true. “While conducting research on the Gravity Aging Hypothesis, we had to make an experimental device to calculate Brain Flow accurately, real-time, and continuously,” he wrote, adding that he has been using the prototype for a year. He believes such a wearable could become meaningful regardless of whether his gravity hypothesis is ultimately validated.

However, he firmly denied suggestions that the hypothesis itself was crafted as a marketing play for the device. “Temple is going to be a small, cute company, if at all. Nothing compared to Eternal,” he clarified. “We didn’t cook up the Gravity Aging Hypothesis to sell Temple. Not my game to lose the trust our customers have over a gimmick.”
