With the festive season around the corner, Flipkart is ramping up operations ahead of its flagship shopping event, The Big Billion Days (TBBD). The e-commerce giant has announced a major expansion in its delivery infrastructure and workforce, with a sharp focus on inclusivity and tech-driven readiness.
This year, Flipkart is creating over 2.2 lakh seasonal jobs across supply chain and logistics roles to handle the spike in demand. These include positions in picking, packing, sorting, and last-mile delivery, with a notable emphasis on first-time workforce entrants, who make up 15% of the new hires.
A key element of the hiring drive is a 10% increase in women recruits, along with enhanced efforts to onboard persons with disabilities (PwD) and LGBTQIA+ associates-a step toward fostering a more inclusive operational ecosystem.
To support faster delivery during the peak period, Flipkart is setting up 650 festive-only delivery hubs across metros and Tier 2 & 3 cities, including locations like Siliguri, Kundli, and Jakhar. The scale-up is backed by AI-led demand forecasting, predictive inventory tools, and automation for seamless sortation and dispatch.
The company is also investing in skilling. Its Supply Chain Operations Academy (SCOA) has trained thousands, with plans to upskill 10,000 more by the end of 2025. Over 6,000 students have already undergone blended learning programs in logistics and operations.
“As TBBD approaches, our focus is on operational excellence and social inclusion,” said Seema Nair, CHRO at Flipkart. “We are building capacity, creating impact, and preparing for scale with purpose.”
