Godrej Industries Group & Bhamla Foundation Launch #BeatPlasticPollution Campaign for World EnvironmentDay

Ajay Devgn and Sharvari Wagh lead the movement for sustainability through simple, conscious choices.

Godrej Industries Group (GIG), in collaboration with Bhamla Foundation and BMC, has launched a campaign for World Environment Day titled #BeatPlasticPollution. Supported by UNEP, the campaign features actors Ajay Devgn and Sharvari Wagh, and promotes awareness on plastic pollution and environmental conservation through simple, meaningful actions.

At the heart of the campaign are two short films, Pyaasa and Earthing, directed by Imtiaz Ali. In Pyaasa, Ajay Devgn rejects a plastic water bottle in favour of an earthen pot, urging viewers to move away from single-use plastics. In Earthing, he lies on the grass amidst urban chaos, symbolising the importance of staying connected to nature.

Ajay Devgn, the global ambassador for World Environment Day 2025, shared, “The environment is everyone’s responsibility. This campaign emphasizes that small actions-like refusing plastic-can lead to big change.”
Sharvari Wagh added, “It helped me realise how far we’ve drifted from nature. It’s time we reconnect.”

Sujit Patil, Chief Communications Officer, GIG, noted, “Only 9% of plastic is recycled globally. We’re using this campaign to drive home the urgency for change.”
Asif Bhamla, Chairman, Bhamla Foundation, emphasized the power of public-private partnerships and collective action in creating sustainable impact.

The initiative will culminate in a Cyclothon on June 4, supported by Godrej Magic Handwash and Godrej L’Affaire, encouraging the public to commit to sustainable lifestyles.
