Google Suspends 2.9 Million Ad Accounts, Removes 247.4 Million Ads in India in 2024

In a major crackdown on ad policy violations, Google suspended 2.9 million advertiser accounts in India and removed 247.4 million ads in 2024, according to its Annual Ads Safety Report. This move highlights the tech giant’s growing efforts to combat online scams and enforce stricter advertising standards.

Globally, Google took even more aggressive action—suspending over 39.2 million advertiser accounts, removing 5.1 billion ads, and restricting more than 9.1 billion ads that violated its advertising policies.

In 2024, Google introduced over 50 upgrades to its large language models (LLMs), enhancing its ability to detect fraudulent ad behavior. These improvements accelerated complex investigations and enabled the identification of suspicious signals, such as fake payment methods during account creation.

The company also addressed the rising threat of AI-generated scam ads impersonating public figures. In response, Google formed a dedicated team of 100+ experts to revise its misrepresentation policy, allowing for immediate and permanent suspension of advertisers promoting scams.

As a result, over 700,000 advertiser accounts were permanently banned, leading to a 90% drop in user reports related to impersonation scam ads.

This proactive stance underscores Google’s commitment to ad safety in India and globally, aiming to protect users and maintain trust in its advertising ecosystem.

For businesses, staying compliant with Google Ads policies is now more crucial than ever to avoid account suspensions and ensure ad visibility.
