The Swedish retailer strengthens its India presence with an offline debut in the capital.
Swedish home furnishings brand IKEA is set to open its first physical store in New Delhi at Pacific Mall, Tagore Garden, on August 13, marking a major milestone in the brand’s India expansion strategy. The announcement was confirmed by Ankit Ghai, Country Selling Manager and Chief Business Officer – Home Furnishings Retail at IKEA, via a LinkedIn post.
“We are so excited to officially announce the opening of our first IKEA store at Pacific Mall Tagore Garden in saddi dilli on August 13. First of the many to come very very soon,” Ghai shared.
This offline launch follows IKEA’s online entry into the Delhi market earlier this year. The brand, which has been sourcing from India for over 50 years, began retail operations in 2018 with its first store in Hyderabad, followed by expansions in Navi Mumbai and Bengaluru.
The Delhi store launch also comes shortly after the appointment of Patrik Antoni as CEO, IKEA India, effective August 2025, succeeding Susanne Pulverer. Under Antoni’s leadership, IKEA is executing an aggressive growth strategy, focused on improving accessibility via compact-format stores in urban centres and emerging markets.
These smaller outlets, some as compact as 10,000 sq. ft., are designed to integrate into neighbourhood malls and high streets, allowing IKEA to expand faster and adapt to evolving customer shopping behaviours.
With its Delhi debut, IKEA reiterates its long-term commitment to India, targeting both major metros and Tier 2 citiesas key markets for future growth.
