Instagram has introduced new creator-focused features aimed at widening audience reach, including AI-powered voice translations in additional Indian languages and new regional fonts within Edits.
Unveiled at the ‘House of Instagram’ event in Mumbai, the platform confirmed that Meta AI voice translations for reels will soon support Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Marathi. The tool enables creators to dub their reels while preserving their natural vocal tone, and includes an optional lip-sync function that matches translated audio with mouth movements for a more seamless viewing experience.
The expansion builds on translation capabilities launched earlier this year for English, Hindi, Spanish and Portuguese.
Instagram is also enhancing text customization with new Indian-script fonts in Edits. The update introduces Devanagari and Bengali-Assamese typefaces, enabling richer text and caption styling for creators working in Hindi, Marathi, Bengali and Assamese. These fonts will roll out on Android devices first.
The latest upgrades follow a steady stream of creator-oriented enhancements across the platform, including AI restyling tools for stories, additional sound effects, bulk caption editing and a video reverse option.
