RCB vs KKR in Bengaluru to kick off the restart; final rescheduled for June 3
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season is set to resume on May 17 after a temporary suspension due to rising geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan. The tournament will restart with a high-voltage clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Bengaluru, featuring star batter Virat Kohli.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the revised schedule following the announcement of a ceasefire on Saturday, which has brought a sense of stability to the region and allowed the league to continue.
As per the updated itinerary:
- The interrupted match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals, halted at 10.1 overs in Dharamsala, will be replayed in full on May 24 in Jaipur.
- Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator are scheduled for May 29 and 30, while Qualifier 2 will take place on June 1.
- The final has been moved to June 3.
- Venues for the playoff matches will be announced shortly, according to the BCCI.
The remaining league matches will be held across six cities: Lucknow, Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, and Jaipur. Additionally, four fixtures will be hosted at neutral venues.
With the league set to resume, fans can once again look forward to thrilling cricket action as the race for playoff spots heats up.
