JioHotstar has announced a refreshed subscription structure aimed at making its streaming service more flexible and accessible for new users. Effective January 28, 2026, the platform will roll out monthly subscription options across its Mobile, Super and Premium tiers, with prices starting at ₹79 per month. The move reflects JioHotstar’s focus on adapting to changing consumption patterns and offering viewers greater control over how and where they watch content.
Until now, subscriptions were largely driven by longer-term plans. With the introduction of monthly options alongside existing quarterly and annual plans, JioHotstar is addressing the needs of both individual mobile viewers and families seeking premium entertainment experiences on larger screens. The update comes at a time when large-screen and Connected TV consumption on the platform has seen significant growth over the past year, signaling a clear shift in audience behavior.
Under the revised structure, Hollywood content will be bundled into the Super and Premium tiers for new subscribers. Users on the Mobile plan, however, will still be able to access Hollywood titles through a flexible add-on, allowing them to customize their viewing experience based on personal preferences and budget.
Importantly, the changes will not impact existing subscribers. Current users will continue to enjoy their existing benefits and pricing, provided their subscriptions remain on auto-renewal, ensuring a seamless experience without disruption.
Commenting on the development, Sushant Sreeram, head of SVOD business and chief marketing officer at JioStar, highlighted the importance of aligning subscription choices with audience viewing habits. He emphasized that the updated plans are designed to balance flexibility and choice, while continuing long-term investments in premium storytelling, live sports and a high-quality streaming experience at scale.
