Kevin Vaz, CEO–Entertainment at JioStar, addressed industry leaders at ATF 2025 in Singapore, spotlighting India’s rapid transformation into one of the most influential content hubs globally. Speaking on the theme “Powering the Next Wave of a Billion Imaginations,” Vaz highlighted how technology, scale, and demographics are converging to redefine storytelling.
Vaz noted that India’s population of 1.4 billion-with a median age of 29-is among the world’s youngest and most digitally active. This combination of youth, accessibility, and connectivity has accelerated content creation, distribution, and consumption at unprecedented speeds. With diversity at its core, India today produces more than 200,000 hours of TV content, 1,800 films, and over 400 web series annually, supporting a multilingual creative economy with 22 official languages and over 1,500 dialects.
Consumption growth spans both traditional and emerging platforms. India now boasts 900 million television viewers, 900 million internet users, 500 million social media users, and a rapidly expanding Connected TV base of 85 million homes-a shift that fuels new viewing behaviours and engagement models.
Vaz showcased JioStar’s scale in this evolving landscape. With a 35% TV share, over 90 channels across 10 languages, and dominance in regional markets, the network reaches 760 million monthly viewers. On digital, JioHotstar crosses one billion downloads and engages more than 400 million monthly active users, while the company now commands 99% of India’s CTV reach.
Looking ahead, Vaz emphasized JioStar’s push toward AI-powered content creation, immersive formats, micro-dramas, global distribution, and category leadership in sports and entertainment.
He concluded with a forward-looking ambition: to build a global imagination ecosystem where creativity, technology, and culture converge for the next billion storytellers and audiences.
