MakeMyTrip has announced a collaboration with OpenAI to strengthen AI-driven travel discovery and capture high-intent travel queries within its platform. As part of the partnership, MakeMyTrip has integrated OpenAI’s APIs into its app experience, enabling travellers to move seamlessly from conversational inspiration to confirmed bookings through its AI interface, Myra.
The collaboration enhances MakeMyTrip’s ability to interpret and respond to evolving travel intent in real time. Instead of relying solely on keyword-based searches, the platform can now participate actively in AI-led discovery, converting natural language conversations into structured, transaction-ready options across flights, hotels, and ancillary travel services. This marks a strategic shift from passive search visibility to outcome-driven engagement, where curiosity is translated directly into bookable journeys.
Commenting on the development, Rajesh Magow, Co-Founder and Group CEO, MakeMyTrip, said the collaboration ensures that when travellers begin planning through conversation, MakeMyTrip becomes a natural extension of that discovery process. He added that grounding AI in the company’s proprietary travel data allows it to go beyond inspiration and deliver personalized, scalable, and bookable outcomes.
From OpenAI’s perspective, Oliver Jay, Managing Director – International, noted that MakeMyTrip is using OpenAI’s APIs to make travel planning feel more conversational and intuitive, replacing complex filtering with recommendations and itineraries aligned to what travellers genuinely want.
MakeMyTrip has invested heavily in AI and machine learning over the years, embedding intelligence across the travel lifecycle. Myra now handles over 50,000 conversations daily across multiple Indian languages, with more than 45% of queries coming from Tier-2 and smaller cities. The collaboration further reinforces MakeMyTrip’s focus on inclusive, AI-first travel planning at scale.
