Maruti Suzuki January 2026 Sales: Domestic PV Demand Dips, Exports Surge to Record High

Maruti Suzuki India Limited reported its highest-ever monthly sales in January 2026, driven by a sharp rise in exports, even as domestic passenger vehicle demand remained subdued. The automaker sold a total of 236,963 units, comprising 178,300 domestic sales, 7,643 OEM units, and 51,020 export units-the latter marking an all-time monthly high and underscoring the company’s growing focus on overseas markets.

Domestic passenger vehicle sales, however, declined 10.5% year-on-year to 87,006 units. Compact models including Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, and WagonR saw a drop in volumes to 72,738 units, while mini cars such as Alto and S-Presso remained largely flat at 14,268 units. In contrast, Maruti Suzuki’s utility vehicle (UV) portfolio, featuring Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, and XL6, recorded 16% year-on-year growth, with sales rising from 65,093 units in January 2025 to 75,609 units in January 2026.

The company’s Q3 FY26 net profit stood at Rs 3,879 crore, a 4.1% year-on-year increase and a 15.8% sequential jump, supported by GST reductions on small cars and two-wheelers, which boosted volumes and revenues. Despite the domestic market softness, the strong export performance and growth in UV sales helped Maruti Suzuki achieve record overall monthly sales.

Shares of Maruti Suzuki closed slightly lower at Rs 14,125, reflecting market caution despite the robust export-led growth.
