Mumbai: Medanta, one of India’s leading super-speciality hospitals and consistently ranked India’s Best Private Hospital by Newsweek for six years, has unveiled a new awareness film for International Men’s Day, spotlighting prostate cancer-the second most common cancer among Indian men.
The film is part of Medanta’s year-long awareness movement, “Jaanta Hai Medanta,” and urges men to open up about their health with the message: “Socho Mat, Baat Karo.” Targeting men aged 55+ and those 45+ with a family history of cancer, the initiative encourages early consultations with urologists and highlights robotic surgery as a game-changing advancement in prostate cancer treatment.
Titled “Papa & GPT,” the 3-minute film follows an elderly father who turns to AI search engines instead of openly discussing his symptoms. When his daughter notices this, she gently reminds him that speaking about health isn’t something to hide. The narrative reinforces Medanta’s mission to break stigma, promote timely screening, and normalize conversations around men’s health.
Dr. Naresh Trehan, Chairman & Managing Director, Medanta, emphasized that the movement aims to address both clinical and emotional barriers, fostering awareness, empathy, and preventive action. He reiterated Medanta’s commitment to transforming conversations into timely health decisions.
The campaign outlines early indicators of prostate cancer-difficulty urinating, blood in urine or semen, erectile dysfunction, and unexplained pain-while also warning against risks like smoking and obesity. Dr. Puneet Ahluwalia added that despite being slow-growing, prostate cancer often goes undetected due to silence and hesitation.
Continuing from its breast cancer chapter, “Jaanta Hai Medanta” remains dedicated to encouraging communities to speak up, show up, and spread the word for better health outcomes.
