Veteran healthcare advertising leader Andrew Schirmer appointed Consulting Director, focusing on health tech and consumer health.
Medulla Communications has announced its expansion into the United States, marking a key milestone in its global growth journey. The move follows the agency’s recent foray into Singapore and the launch of Capsule, its healthcare-focused events joint venture.
To spearhead its US operations, Medulla has appointed Andrew Schirmer as Consulting Director. A seasoned advertising professional with over three decades of experience across WPP/Ogilvy, IPG/McCann, and Omnicom, Schirmer has worked extensively with global healthcare brands, public institutions, and NGOs.
In its initial phase, Medulla US will concentrate on health tech and consumer health communication, providing a full spectrum of services – from digital strategy and performance marketing to long-term brand building. The agency has already been collaborating with several US-based health-tech startups through its Mumbai hub.
“The era of health-tech brands having to choose between market understanding and cost-effectiveness is over,” said Schirmer. “Our model combines US-based strategic leadership with India-based creative and digital execution – offering speed, quality, and value.”
Medulla founder Praful Akali added,
“Andrew’s appointment reflects our ambition to blend global expertise with deep local insight. This expansion marks our commitment to helping health tech and consumer health brands create powerful, purpose-driven connections with audiences worldwide.”
Under Akali’s leadership, Medulla has emerged as one of India’s most awarded healthcare agencies, with accolades from Cannes Lions, Effies, and other global platforms. The US expansion further cements Medulla’s vision of positioning India as a global hub for specialist healthcare communication.
