The campaign addresses prevalent scams, including fake job offers demanding upfront fees, fraudulent investment schemes promising guaranteed returns, and digital arrest scams impersonating government officials. Using a light-hearted yet cautionary tone, the film demonstrates how scams often manipulate urgency, trust, or authority, urging viewers to pause, question, and verify before taking action.
Neena Gupta emphasized, “Scams today don’t always look dangerous-they can appear friendly, urgent, and convincing. Awareness is the first step to protecting yourself and your loved ones. This film encourages everyone to use Meta’s safety tools and reporting features to take control of their online safety.”
Shri Tuhin Kanta Pandey, SEBI chairman, highlighted the importance of such initiatives, stating that public awareness is crucial to protecting individuals from financial fraud and ensuring engagement with registered entities.
By blending real-world scenarios, humor, and relatable storytelling, Meta’s campaign aims to educate millions across India, fostering vigilance and empowering users to recognize, report, and prevent online scams. Scam Se Bacho reinforces Meta’s commitment to creating safer digital spaces while helping users navigate the growing complexities of online interactions.
