Founded in 2018, Kuku operates across multiple formats, including short-form video (Kuku TV), audio content (Kuku FM), and edutainment (Guru). The platform has scaled rapidly, crossing 350 million installs and building a content library of over 20,000 titles in seven languages, with several shows surpassing 100 million views.

Dhoni said his investment was driven by the platform’s differentiated approach and its vision of building an AI-led storytelling ecosystem for “Bharat and the world.” He also highlighted a personal connection with the founders, who share small-town roots and have scaled the platform significantly.

Co-founder and CEO Lal Chand Bisu noted that Dhoni’s ability to take bold decisions aligns with Kuku’s growth philosophy. COO Vinod Kumar Meena emphasised Dhoni’s mass appeal as a key driver for deeper market penetration, while CTO Vikas Goyal pointed to his understanding of audiences as valuable for both creators and consumers.

Kuku TV alone has crossed 180 million downloads, offering over 150,000 episodes and releasing hundreds of microdramas monthly. The platform is also integrating AI across genres like mytho-fantasy and futuristic fiction.

To amplify the partnership, the company has launched the campaign #DhoniWatchesKukuTV, positioning Dhoni at the centre of its next phase of growth and content expansion.
