Campaign introduces futuristic eyewear designs: Plantaris and Lateralis
Oakley has launched its latest campaign, ‘Artifacts from the Future’, featuring India’s Test Captain Shubman Gill. Celebrating its 50-year legacy, Oakley introduces a futuristic line of performance eyewear, designed for the world of 2075, but launched today in 2025, continuing its tradition of innovation in style and function.
The campaign film showcases Shubman Gill wearing two new eyewear models – Plantaris and Lateralis.
- Plantaris is a high-wrap design featuring a flexible silicone rear stem, inspired by the dynamic leap of a frog-combining performance and futuristic aesthetics.
- Lateralis also features a high-wrap build, but with a heritage-inspired, modern silhouette, reflecting Oakley’s design evolution.
Sahil Jandial, Senior Brand Business Manager, Oakley India, said:
“2025 marks our 50th anniversary-five decades of transforming innovation into cultural icons. ‘Artifacts from the Future’ is about pushing boundaries while honoring our roots. Shubman Gill represents the Oakley spirit-performance, style, and cultural relevance. He’s not just a world-class athlete, but a symbol of what’s possible when design meets determination.”
Shubman Gill shared his thoughts on the collaboration:
“With Oakley, the idea is that the future isn’t some distant concept-it’s something we’re shaping now. These products feel like they’re from 2075, yet they’re here today. The innovation and design reflect how far we’ve come. I’m proud to be part of a campaign that encourages people to push boundaries, grow, and embrace the future—on and off the field.”
The campaign’s visual identity and motion graphics were conceptualized and developed by Brandmovers India, immersing viewers in a futuristic world.
Suvajyoti Ghosh, Founder and Chief Creative Officer, Brandmovers India, said:
“The brief was incredibly exciting. With a concept like ‘Artifacts from the Future,’ we had the chance to build an entire visual universe around the product. Futurism isn’t often explored in Indian advertising, so we’re grateful to the Oakley team for taking this leap and bringing us along for the journey.”
