Perplexity has officially launched its AI-driven Comet browser for Android, taking its desktop-first innovation into the mobile world. After gaining traction earlier this year for automation, summarisation, and seamless AI assistance, Comet is now redesigned from the ground up for smartphones – not simply ported over.
Unlike traditional mobile browsers, Comet embeds Perplexity’s AI assistant directly into the browsing flow. Users can ask questions, trigger tasks, or view the assistant’s reasoning without switching tabs or opening separate windows. Everything happens right where you’re browsing, keeping the experience fluid and distraction-free.
One of the biggest additions is voice interaction, carrying over the popular voice mode from the Perplexity app. Android users can search, command, or clarify information hands-free. The browser also supports cross-tab summarisation, allowing users to gather insights from multiple tabs – a feature that became one of the desktop version’s standout capabilities.
The mobile version includes a built-in ad blocker, enabling clutter-free reading while giving users the choice to whitelist sites they want to support. Comet also stores context from open tabs and ongoing activity, offering quicker, more accurate answers and enabling tasks like comparing content, simplifying pages, and conducting deeper research without jumping between apps.
Most desktop features are intact – from setting Perplexity as the default search engine to referencing specific tabs during queries. While Android leads the rollout, an iOS version is already in development. According to the company, Android was prioritised due to strong interest from carriers and OEMs exploring Comet integration, though no deals have been finalised yet.
Comet for Android is now available for download, promising a cleaner, smarter, AI-first browsing experience.
