Meena joined a SINGER-affiliated Skill Centre at a turning point in her life. Through the programme’s structured sewing training, she gained technical proficiency while rebuilding her confidence. Completing the course and earning a certification allowed her to take charge of her future with a sense of autonomy and purpose. Her experience underscores how upskilling can unlock new opportunities and restore dignity.
Her progress mirrors the goals of SINGER India’s flagship initiative, Ek Nayi Pehchaan, which has empowered thousands of women nationwide.
Under the programme, participants make a one-time investment of ₹9,000, which includes:
- A SINGER sewing machine at a subsidised rate
- A 45-day structured training module
- Assessment support in partnership with SINGER India
- Certification upon successfully clearing examinations
Implemented in collaboration with NGOs, corporate partners, and supported by applicable State and Central Government funding opportunities, the initiative equips women with practical skills to secure income and make confident choices for their families and communities.
SINGER India now works with more than 600 affiliated sewing skill centres across the country, extending access to training and helping women like Meena transform their aspirations into livelihoods.
