Snap Inc. and Qualcomm Technologies have expanded their long-standing partnership through a multi-year strategic agreement to power Snap’s upcoming AR eyewear, Specs, with Snapdragon XR chips.
The collaboration marks a key milestone for Snap’s subsidiary, Specs Inc., as it prepares to launch its next-generation wearable later this year. Designed as standalone, see-through glasses, Specs aim to seamlessly blend digital content with the physical world-allowing users to see, hear, and interact with augmented experiences in real time.
At the core of this innovation is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR platform, which enables high-performance, low-power computing combined with on-device AI. This means experiences can run directly on the device, ensuring faster response times, improved privacy, and context-aware interactions without heavy reliance on the cloud.
The partnership builds on over five years of collaboration between the two companies, with Snapdragon chips previously powering earlier versions of Snap’s Spectacles. With this renewed focus, both companies aim to accelerate development across advanced capabilities such as immersive graphics, multiuser AR experiences, and intelligent, real-time computing.
Beyond hardware, the initiative also sets the stage for a growing developer ecosystem. By aligning long-term product roadmaps and technical capabilities, Snap and Qualcomm are creating a scalable platform for developers to build richer, more sophisticated AR applications.
As competition in spatial computing intensifies, this collaboration underscores a shared vision: making computing more intuitive, human-centric, and seamlessly integrated into everyday life through wearable technology.
