Spotify has partnered with ChatGPT to offer both free and premium users personalized music and podcast recommendations directly through OpenAI’s conversational platform. The integration extends Spotify’s reach across over 2,000 devices, including smart TVs, cars, and gaming consoles, allowing users to enjoy Spotify wherever they are.
How it works
Users simply mention Spotify in a ChatGPT conversation, connect their Spotify account, and can then request songs, artists, albums, playlists, or podcasts. Recommendations can also be tailored to moods, themes, or specific topics. ChatGPT displays results within the chat, and tapping a track opens the Spotify app for listening. Users can even ask for curated playlists for events like road trips or weekend getaways.
For best results, users should provide context such as genre, mood, artist, or, for podcasts, topic, host, and guest. Free users can explore curated playlists like Discover Weekly and New Music Friday, while Premium users can generate fully personalized playlists based on detailed prompts.
Privacy and control
Connecting Spotify to ChatGPT is opt-in, and accounts can be disconnected anytime. Spotify clarified that music, podcasts, or other content will not be shared with OpenAI for training purposes.
The Spotify app for ChatGPT is available in English across 145 countries for Free, Plus, and Pro users on both web and mobile (iOS and Android), combining AI-powered conversation with Spotify’s personalized listening experience.
