The new feature lets friends match with other duos, aiming to make dating more social and less stressful.
Tinder has officially launched Double Date, a new feature that allows two friends to swipe and match as a pair with other duos. Designed to bring a more social dynamic to online dating, the feature encourages group interactions and aims to reduce the pressure of one-on-one conversations.
Currently available in the US and select markets, Double Date will see a global rollout in July.
How Double Date Works
- Users tap the Double Date icon on Tinder’s main screen.
- They can invite up to three friends to join their group.
- The group can swipe through other Double Date profiles.
- Only one like from either pair is required to create a match.
- Once matched, all four users enter a group chat – making it easier to plan a meet-up or just break the ice.
Early Insights & Performance
Tinder tested Double Date in select markets with encouraging results:
- 90% of Double Date profiles were created by users under 29 – highlighting popularity among Gen Z and younger Millennials.
- Women using the feature were 3x more likely to like a pair compared to individual profiles.
- Double Date group chats saw 35% more messages than traditional one-on-one conversations.
- Nearly 15% of users who accepted a Double Date invite were either new to Tinder or recently reactivated their accounts.
The feature has proven especially engaging for women and younger audiences, reinforcing Tinder’s appeal among socially driven, digital-native users.
Tinder plans to expand Double Date globally starting July 2025.
