Tinder has introduced Tinder U in India, a specialized in-app feature designed to help college students connect with peers on campus. The feature, exclusive to university and college students, requires registration with a valid educational email address (.edu.in, .ac.in, or .in) for verification.
Students can enhance their profiles with details about their college, clubs, and interests to facilitate meaningful connections. According to a OnePoll survey, 57% of young Indian adults (18-25) have formed significant relationships through dating apps, with 45% considering these platforms the most common way to meet people.
Aditi Shorewal, Tinder’s communications lead in India, describes Tinder U as offering “a safe and inclusive space where genuine connections happen as naturally as bumping into someone interesting in the library or corridor.”
The survey reveals that 39% of Tinder users find shared interests most appealing in profiles, while 54% prefer discussing common hobbies in conversations—insights that Tinder U incorporates to foster natural interactions.
To access Tinder U, users simply update their profile information and verify their student status through the app.
