The Bengaluru-based sporting goods company has raised ₹600 crore to date from marquee investors including Nexus Venture Partners, Spring Capital, and Yuvraj Singh.
Indian cricketer and entrepreneur Virat Kohli has invested ₹40 crore in Agilitas Sports, a next-generation sporting goods company founded by Abhishek Ganguly, former Managing Director of Puma India. The investment marks a strategic partnership that transitions Kohli from the role of brand endorser to that of investor and co-creator.
The funding is part of a broader capital raise, with additional investments expected in subsequent tranches. In under two years, Agilitas has raised ₹600 crore from prominent investors including Nexus Venture Partners, Spring Capital, and former cricketer Yuvraj Singh.
The partnership is rooted in a longstanding professional relationship. Ganguly played a key role in onboarding Kohli to Puma India in 2017, signing a landmark ₹110 crore endorsement deal that spanned eight years. While Kohli was expected to renew the contract in 2025 at an increased valuation of ₹300 crore, he opted instead to exit the arrangement and back Ganguly’s new venture with equity capital and active involvement.
Kohli’s stake includes 3.6 lakh compulsorily convertible preference shares (CCPS), offering him long-term equity upside in the business. Beyond financial investment, Kohli will contribute to brand development, product strategy, and overall business positioning, reflecting a deeper alignment with Agilitas’s growth vision.
“Virat Kohli’s involvement goes beyond image rights-this is a long-term strategic play,” said a source familiar with the deal.
Agilitas aims to redefine India’s sporting goods landscape by combining performance-led innovation with consumer-first design. Kohli’s association is expected to significantly enhance the brand’s reach and credibility in a competitive market.
The investment further diversifies Kohli’s growing business portfolio, which includes stakes in Digit Insurance, Mobile Premier League (MPL), Blue Tribe, and his apparel brand Wrogn. With this latest move, Kohli solidifies his position as one of India’s most active and strategic athlete-investors.
