Warner Bros. Discovery Unveils Wildlife Epics with Tom Hanks and Dia Mirza

Warner Bros. Discovery has enriched its factual entertainment offerings with two compelling wildlife documentaries – The Dooars World and The Americas – now available on discovery+ and Animal Planet.

The Dooars World, narrated by actor and environmentalist Dia Mirza, premiered on August 15 with a simulcast on Discovery and Animal Planet. Directed by Shaon Pritam Baral, the film explores the biodiverse Dooars region in the Eastern Himalayas. The documentary showcases the rare red panda, one-horned rhinoceros, and vibrant birdlife, while emphasizing the region’s fragile harmony between wildlife and local communities.

Baral shared, “The Dooars is a living, breathing ecosystem. Dia Mirza’s narration adds emotional depth to the story, and I hope it inspires audiences to see this region with the reverence it deserves.”

Premiering on August 18, The Americas, narrated by Academy Award® winner Tom Hanks, is a sweeping 11-part series produced by BBC Studios’ Natural History Unit and Universal Television Alternative Studio. Airing weekdays at 9 PM, it journeys from the Arctic to Patagonia, highlighting extraordinary species, ecosystems, and survival stories. The series has earned Emmy® nominations for Outstanding Narrator (Hanks) and Music Composition (Hans Zimmer).

Sai Abishek, Head of Factual Entertainment, Warner Bros. Discovery South Asia, noted, “We’re proud to blend iconic voices with emerging storytellers. From Shaon’s debut film to Tom Hanks’ global appeal, these films reflect our vision of inspiring wonder and driving conservation.”

Both titles stream now on discovery+.
