The latest updates enhance creativity, personalisation, and ease of use across the platform.
WhatsApp has rolled out a fresh set of features designed to make chats more dynamic, personal, and convenient. The updates span motion-enabled media, AI-powered customisation, improved group discovery, and new tools for Android users.
Live & Motion Photos:
Users can now share Live Photos on iOS and Motion Photos on Android – complete with sound and movement – allowing them to capture and share moments more vividly across platforms.
AI-Powered Chat Themes & Backgrounds:
Building on the Chat Themes feature introduced earlier this year, WhatsApp now lets users harness Meta AI to create customised chat themes. The AI integration also allows users to design unique virtual backgrounds for video calls or apply AI-generated backgrounds while taking photos and videos directly within chats. (Availability may vary by region.)
New Sticker Packs:
To keep conversations expressive, WhatsApp has introduced new sticker packs like Fearless Bird, School Days, and Vacation, making it easier to convey moods and reactions without typing a word.
Simplified Group Search:
Finding group chats just got easier. Users can now search for a contact’s name in the Chats tab and see all the groups they share with that person, helping cut through the clutter of creatively named group chats.
Document Scanning on Android:
Android users can now scan, crop, save, and share documents directly through WhatsApp – a feature that was previously available only on iOS.
WhatsApp has hinted at more updates and features on the horizon, promising to continue evolving the platform to meet users’ communication needs.
