WinZO, India’s largest interactive entertainment platform with a user base of 250 million, has entered into an exclusive partnership with Balaji Telefilms to create the country’s first transmedia universe-an integrated ecosystem where microdramas, games, characters, and audio experiences coexist seamlessly across formats. The partnership follows the rapid rise of WinZO’s microdrama platform, ZO TV, which has crossed 500 titles within just three months, marking one of the fastest expansions in the global short-format entertainment space.
WinZO is redefining storytelling for a mobile-first generation by blending 2-minute microdramas with 2-minute games and audio narratives, offering users a continuous and immersive entertainment experience. The collaboration with Balaji Telefilms combines the studio’s cinematic storytelling expertise with WinZO’s interactive technology and distribution scale.
This momentum positions India as an emerging leader in the USD 26 billion global short-drama market, projected to more than double from USD 12 billion in 2025 to USD 26 billion by 2030. WinZO’s growth builds on its legacy of publishing 100+ games, supporting 75,000 creators, and reaching audiences across India, the US, and Brazil. With over 100 million episodes already viewed, the platform is signalling a new era where culture, technology, and creativity converge.
Paavan Nanda, Co-founder of WinZO, said the partnership aims to build the world’s first transmedia platform originating from India. “Microdramas are the next global frontier,” he noted, adding that Balaji’s storytelling depth combined with WinZO’s technology will produce relatable stories for audiences worldwide.
Balaji Telefilms will develop high-quality microdramas aimed at Indian and global audiences. Joint Managing Director Ekta Kapoor emphasised that the collaboration represents the next step in Balaji’s evolution, while CRO Nitin Burman highlighted that audiences today seek short, emotional, and engaging content-making this partnership a natural fit.
WinZO is also investing in emerging creators through workshops, accelerators, and collaborations at forums such as Waves Film Bazaar and IFFI, aiming to build India’s first globally scalable transmedia franchises.
