WinZO Shuts Real‑Money Games and PokerBaazi Pauses Operations Amid Real‑Money Gaming Ban

In compliance with India’s newly passed Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, leading platforms WinZO and PokerBaazi have withdrawn from real‑money gaming.

WinZO, one of India’s largest social gaming platforms, announced it will discontinue its real‑money offerings effective August 22, 2025. The platform, which hosts over 100 games in 15 languages and serves a community exceeding 250 million users, reassured stakeholders that compliance with the law takes precedence. Importantly, the company has confirmed no layoffs are expected, reinforcing its commitment to employee welfare even amid regulatory changes.

PokerBaazi, operated under Moonshine Technologies and partially owned by Nazara Technologies, made a similarly stark announcement: “With a very heavy heart, we will be pausing all real‑money gaming operations, effective immediately.” The platform emphasized that user funds remain secure, and withdrawals can continue during this transition. While calling it a pause rather than a goodbye, PokerBaazi noted its future course will be determined once the Bill is fully enacted
