WPP acquires InfoSum to boost AI-powered marketing solutions

WPP has acquired InfoSum, a data collaboration platform that will work with GroupM to develop AI-driven marketing solutions using secure data infrastructure.

The acquisition provides WPP with access to privacy-safe data for marketing intelligence, audience targeting, and AI model training. InfoSum’s cross-cloud technology allows companies to connect data sources without moving or exposing sensitive information.

WPP clients can now generate marketing intelligence using their first-party data combined with InfoSum’s network, WPP’s data assets, and GroupM’s media intelligence. Clients can build custom AI models using these diverse datasets, delivering measurable campaign performance improvements within hours rather than weeks.

InfoSum’s global data network includes billions of signals from media platforms like Channel 4, Netflix, and Samsung Ads, along with retailers and data partners including Experian and TransUnion.

Mark Read, WPP CEO, called the acquisition “a major step forward” for their data capabilities. Brian Lesser, GroupM CEO, highlighted how the integration will create more value from client data and enable AI model training at unprecedented scale.

Lauren Wetzel will remain InfoSum CEO while also becoming chief solutions officer for GroupM, developing data-driven products for WPP and GroupM clients.
