YouTube has introduced a new range of flexible subscription options for its live television service, YouTube TV, offering viewers more choice in how they access different types of content. The platform has launched more than 10 new plans covering sports, news, entertainment and family programming, with prices set lower than the standard YouTube TV package.
According to Josh Yang, director of product management at YouTube, the initiative is designed to simplify television viewing by giving users greater control over their subscriptions. Instead of paying for a large bundle of channels, viewers can now choose plans that focus on the content categories they prefer.
One of the key offerings is the Sports Plan, priced at $64.99 per month (or $54.99 for new users). The package includes access to major broadcasters as well as popular sports networks such as ESPN, FS1 and NBC Sports Network. YouTube has also indicated that ESPN Unlimited will be added to the package later this year.
Another option, the Sports + News Plan, is priced at $71.99 per month and combines sports coverage with news networks such as CNN, CNBC, Fox News, MSNBC, Bloomberg and C-SPAN.
For users primarily interested in entertainment content, YouTube has launched an Entertainment Plan at $54.99 per month, which includes channels such as Comedy Central, Bravo, Paramount, Food Network and HGTV.
The company has also introduced a News + Entertainment + Family Plan priced at $69.99 per month, bundling news and entertainment networks with family-oriented channels such as Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, National Geographic and PBS Kids.
Despite the new options, YouTube confirmed that its main YouTube TV plan, priced at $82.99 per month and offering more than 100 networks, will continue to be available as the platform’s most comprehensive package. All plans retain features such as unlimited DVR, multiview, account sharing for up to six members, and optional add-ons like NFL Sunday Ticket, HBO Max and 4K Plus.
