Zepto Bets Big on Premium Shopping & Health With ‘Super Mall’ and Diagnostics Push

Quick-commerce player Zepto is shifting gears from just fast deliveries to building a broader everyday-needs ecosystem. The company has started piloting two major expansions – Super Mall, a marketplace for premium non-grocery products, and Zepto Diagnostics, a new addition to its pharmacy vertical offering at-home medical tests. Both features are currently rolling out in select cities and to limited users.

Super Mall marks Zepto’s comeback to large-basket categories after earlier experiments fell short. This time, the focus is sharper: high-margin products such as home décor, personal gadgets, fashion, lifestyle accessories, and other premium essentials. With this move, Zepto is clearly stepping into territory dominated by Swiggy’s Maxxsaver, escalating the ongoing rivalry between the two platforms. Their competitive jabs – from interviews to social media subtlety – have already become industry talking points.

The expansion follows co-founder Aadit Palicha’s recent acknowledgement of the company’s missteps around pricing nudges and delivery-fee tweaks, which were criticised as dark patterns. “Some of the feedback was valid… we rolled it back within 45–60 days,” he told Forbes India, reflecting a more consumer-conscious approach as Zepto widens its offerings.

Meanwhile, Zepto Diagnostics adds a health-tech layer to the platform, enabling users to book medical tests directly through the app – a strategic extension of its growing pharmacy segment.

Together, these launches signal Zepto’s ambition to move beyond instant grocery delivery and position itself as a multi-category convenience destination – one that caters to larger baskets, higher spending, and long-term customer loyalty.
