The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a cash reward of ₹131 crore for the Indian national cricket team following its victory in the latest edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The announcement comes after India’s dominant performance in the final, where the team defeated New Zealand by 96 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The win marks a historic milestone for Indian cricket. With this victory, India secured its third T20 World Cup title, the highest number won by any team in the tournament’s history. The triumph also made India the first team to successfully defend the T20 World Cup title and the first to lift the trophy while hosting the tournament.
India’s campaign throughout the tournament reflected consistent performances across both batting and bowling departments. Under the leadership of captain Suryakumar Yadav and the guidance of head coach Gautam Gambhir, the team delivered a strong and well-balanced performance, ultimately sealing a convincing win in the final.
Following the victory, India now holds multiple major titles organised by the International Cricket Council (ICC). These include the Men’s T20 World Cup, Women’s Cricket World Cup, Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup, Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup, and the Champions Trophy, highlighting the country’s growing dominance across formats and age groups.
In addition to the BCCI’s ₹131 crore reward, the ICC will also distribute prize money to participating teams. As the tournament winner, India will receive $2.34 million (approximately ₹21.5 crore), while runner-up New Zealand will receive $1.17 million (around ₹10.75 crore).
All 20 teams that participated in the competition will receive financial payouts, with Pakistan, which exited during the Super Eight stage, set to receive $270,000 (about ₹2.48 crore).
