Tata’s BigBasket to Launch 10-Minute Food Delivery Service by FY26-End

BigBasket, backed by the Tata Group, is preparing to enter the 10-minute food delivery segment by the end of fiscal year 2026, aiming to strengthen its presence in India’s fast-growing quick commerce (Q-comm) market.

BigBasket co-founder Vipul Parekh told Reuters that the company plans to leverage dark stores-localized fulfillment centers – to power its upcoming food delivery operations.

The move will position BigBasket against established players like Swiggy’s Snacc, Blinkit’s Bistro, and Zepto Cafe, all of which are offering meals and beverages from Quick Service Restaurants (QSRs) in under 15 minutes.

The company has already piloted 10-minute food delivery in parts of Bengaluru, serving beverages and food bowls sourced from Tata Group’s hospitality brands, including Starbucks and Qmin.

This expansion comes on the heels of several rapid delivery initiatives. Last September, BigBasket teamed up with Tata-owned Croma Electronics to deliver iPhone 16 models within 10 minutes. It also partnered with Tanishq for 10-minute delivery of gold and silver coins-showcasing its growing commitment to ultra-fast logistics.

BigBasket’s quick commerce division has been operational for over two and a half years. The brand has transitioned from traditional slotted deliveries to a quick delivery model as part of a strategic overhaul. In 2024, it rebranded its quick commerce service under the name BBNow.

Acquired by Tata Digital in May 2021, BigBasket now joins a wave of brands diving into ultra-fast food delivery. New entrants like Swish, Zing, and magicpin’s magicNow (which offers 15-minute food delivery in six cities including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Pune) reflect the sector’s rising momentum.

With this latest move, BigBasket is gearing up to further intensify competition in India’s Q-comm arena-aiming to meet the growing consumer demand for speed, convenience, and quality.
